What Is CNC Machining?
CNC Machining is a manufacturing process that allows a person to create and cut custom parts without the need for expensive machinery. The CAD design file is fed through a CNC-compatible program that extracts the part geometry and generates digital programming code that controls the CNC machine and the tooling. Once a job is complete, the person can then use the part or tooling to produce the custom-designed product. This process has many benefits, but it is not for everyone. The CNC machining process begins with a 2D vector or 3D solid part CAD design. CAD software is used to create these designs, and enables designers and manufacturers to create renderings, models, and technical specifications. The CNC machine will then follow the CAD design to the finish. The finished products will have a smooth surface and may not have holes or be textured. The finished product can be used for a variety of purposes, and can be either symmetrical or asymmetrical. CNC machining begins with ...
